Spring is here and with it comes brighter evenings. During winter it can be easy to wrap up under a blanket in front of the fire instead of going out for a walk in the evenings after work. This can lead to getting stuck in a rut during the cold, wet and dark season. Spring gives us a great opportunity to develop a healthier lifestyle and boost our well-being.

Exercise is a great way to keep your body and mind healthy. Getting some steps in or taking on some form of exercise, whether it is cycling, playing football, yoga or just going to the gym, is a great mood booster while helping your cardiovascular health at the same time.

While staying physically fit is important, it is also vital to keep your body healthy in terms of what we eat. While the cold months tend to bring comfort food, take aways and of course the holiday treats, Spring can be a great time to focus on healthier options such as fruit, vegetables and getting the correct proteins and vitamins into your body. Smoothies are always a great way of getting your fruit intake. Try to pick up fresh produce and focus on a healthy diet this Spring.

Sunshine is also a natural source of Vitamin D and while Ireland may seem deprived of sunshine for the majority of the year, it is always important to remember; just because you can’t see it, does not mean it’s not there. Make sure to include SPF in your daily routine. Many skincare products include SPF to help protect you from the harmful rays shining on you.

There are so many ways to practice wellness throughout the year and you can do this at work as well by getting out for a walk on your breaks to get some fresh air. This also gives you a chance to clear your head from anything that is getting to you throughout the day and you will feel fresh and well prepared to tackle any problem when you get back to your desk.
